Stop hurting yourself https://www.jesusislife.us/stop-hurting-yourself/ https://www.jesusislife.us/stop-hurting-yourself/#respond Sun, 03 Sep 2017 11:19:56 +0000 http://www.jesusislife.us/?p=25 Damage to your soul comes mostly through the bitterness, contempt for yourself, false guilt, and unforgiveness — the things you do to yourself. The damage done by the original action against you pales in comparison.
Jesus will bring you out of a season of suffering and heal the wounds. He will make you strong inside and ready to march on, unless… that’s not what you want.
“Only your own sin damages your relationship with God.  Even when someone wrongs you, your own sin keeps your heart perpetually wounded. God will gladly heal you if you come to Jesus and stay with Him. Bitterness, unforgiveness, anger…they leave lasting wounds, alter your perception and influence your behavior. Circumstances cannot separate you from God, but bitterness builds a wall which He will not violate.”

Revival begins when you want what He wants https://www.jesusislife.us/revival-begins-when-you-want-what-he-wants/ https://www.jesusislife.us/revival-begins-when-you-want-what-he-wants/#respond Tue, 01 Aug 2017 13:58:20 +0000 http://www.jesusislife.us/?p=4

The church collectively prays ad nauseum, “Your kingdom come; your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:10) And rightly so. Jesus said these words, teaching the disciples how to pray. So millions of Christians all over the world have prayed for centuries. That is unity. People called by His name agree on one thing. But, do they agree in purpose, or do they simply agree that these are beautiful words to say?

Do they agree that what He wants should be done? There are no angels in Heaven who decline to do the will of the Almighty. There are no beings around the throne who refuse their duty and privilege to praise Him. They are sensitive and aware of what God wills, and they happily do it.

This is revival. God’s people, awakened in the Spirit, suddenly have far more concern about WHAT GOD WILLS them to do.

Do what Jesus asks of you regarding issues of character and mission.

Read Matthew 5 and be inspired by the challenge of Jesus: Be humble, receive comfort, be kind, forgiving and gentle with others. Hunger and thirst for what He says is good. Forgive the ones you haven’t forgiven and begin to pray for them. Take on  God’s love and compassion and most of all HOPE.
The first territory Jesus wants to conquer for His kingdom is your heart. You will never see your relationships affected by God’s power. You will only be the influence for good that He wants you to be if your heart surrenders to Jesus and His ways. Forgiveness, love, mercy, and kindness. These are the powerful weapons that will convince the world of Jesus’ love.

Set about to discover His mission for you. Have you considered your mission a random string of good deeds or embracing opportunities for service as you come across them? Aspire to more. “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10 ESV). God created you and gifted you with purpose, to be equipped to do particular works for His kingdom.

When God’s people pray that HIS WILL BE DONE, and fervently work to discover and do what God wants, both in issues of the inner man and life choices, there will be revival.

Jesus is Looking for You https://www.jesusislife.us/jesus-is-looking-for-you/ https://www.jesusislife.us/jesus-is-looking-for-you/#respond Tue, 01 Aug 2017 13:46:07 +0000 http://www.jesusislife.us/?p=9

“I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.” (Luke 5:32 ESV)

If you don’t need forgiveness, Jesus isn’t looking for you. If you don’t need Him, He can’t help you. Jesus is calling people who have made mistakes, those who have weaknesses, those who have hurt others and grieved about it.

There is a BIG list in the Bible, the Ten Commandments, a basic code of conduct for people who want to have a relationship with God. (Exodus 20)

1. Worship no other gods. There are many names of gods in many religions. They are many imposters. Choose the One God who created you.

2. Don’t worship or serve (or pray to, or hold for good luck) any carved image or likeness. You can’t contain God or reduce Him to an idea.

3. Don’t use God’s name in vain. If you say something about Him, or attribute your opinion to Him–you better be right.

4. Keep the Sabbath holy. One entire day of the week, 14% of their time was dedicated to rest and remembering God. Getting right with God–your life depends on it–make time for it.

5. Honor your father and mother. Forgive and show respect and gratitude for the human beings who brought you into this world.

6. Do not murder. Don’t cause harm, physically, emotionally or financially to others.

7. Do not commit adultery. Love the person you promised to love when you married.

8. Do not steal. Do not take by force or deception what belongs to someone else.

9. Do not say something untrue about your neighbor. Do not gossip. Do not speculate. Do not criticize.

10. Do not be jealous of what someone else has, their possessions, their appearance, their influence, or their wealth.

This list seems simple. One ought to have the self-control to accomplish these things if you set your mind to it. But these simple rules expose the inability of people to make themselves good. You have broken these laws. If you can see it, then Jesus is looking for you.

Jesus came to call “sinners” to repentance. That means He wants to forgive you and help you to change paths. Just ask Him. Warning: He will forgive you when you ask, but He will also expect you to take His hand and follow down a new path.
